Photograms!!!

Friday we will be making photograms. A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a photo-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The result is a negative shadow image varying in tone, depending on the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey.

BRING OBJECTS TO CLASS FOR YOUR PHOTOGRAM. PLAN TO TELL A STORY, OR TO CREATE SOME INTERESTING PATTERNS, OR A NEAT DESIGN. no pocket photograms, come to class with intentional objects, not your keys and loose change!

Taking Pics today...

Today you will shoot pictures!!! We are seeking unique images, creative compositions, fantastic images. You will have a partner to share your camera with and each of you should try and take 10-15 images! Keep the camera on auto.

Bring your cameras on Wednesday!!

September 8th, bring a 35mm camera if you have one. If not, come and see Mr. Story before Wednesday, I have some loaners, ideas, etc.

Viewpoint

Before photographing your subject, take time to think about where you will shoot it from. Our viewpoint has a massive impact on the composition of our photo, and as a result it can greatly affect the message that the shot conveys. Rather than just shooting from eye level, consider photographing from high above, down at ground level, from the side, from the back, from a long way away, from very close up, and so on.
